Van Mahotsav Celebration: Cultivating Young Nature Guardians at Indus Valley World School
On 4th July 2025, the students of Grades 3 to 5 at Indus Valley World School celebrated Van Mahotsav with creativity, enthusiasm, and a deep sense of environmental awareness.
The day began with an engaging multilingual exploration of the parts of a plant, conducted in Hindi and Bengali, seamlessly blending language learning with nature education. Students also explored the benefits of medicinal plants like neem, tulsi, and amla—uncovering nature’s remarkable healing power.
A standout moment was an inspiring session with the “Mango Man of Kolkata,” Mr. Jasmit Singh Arora. His journey of planting mango trees across the city captivated the young audience. With heartfelt stories and practical advice, he empowered students to contribute to ecological well-being by growing trees in their own surroundings.
The celebration continued with interactive quiz and discussion sessions hosted by the Culture and Heritage and Quiz Clubs. Students discovered lesser-known tree species and gained insights into the importance of preserving our natural legacy, deepening their appreciation for biodiversity.
Van Mahotsav at IVWS was more than an event—it was a powerful reminder of our duty to the planet. Through meaningful experiences and guidance, our students emerged as responsible young guardians of nature, committed to cultivating a greener and more sustainable future.
