Martyr’s Day Report

04th February 2019

Gandhiji’s assassination on 30th January 1948 has been marked as Martyr’s Day to honour the leader who had promulgated the principles of ‘Satya’ and ‘Ahimsa’. Indus Valley World School commemorated this day under the guidance of our Director who used the occasion to make the students aware of the historical significance of this day and the message that Gandhi had conveyed to generations who would come to know of him. Starting with a short clip from the movie Gandhi.

Director ma’am went on to show two slides – one featuring the Rajghat where Gandhiji’s samadhi draws thousands of visitors and the Amar Jawan Jyoti whose flame keeps alive the memories of thousands of soldiers who have laid down their lives for the country only so that our existence can be peaceful. This short and intense program ended with a 2 minutes silence at the stroke of 11:00a.m and as Gandhiji’s favourite bhajan filled up the nook and crannies of the auditorium, the students filed out bearing the message of Ahimsa.
