Pro kabaddi league in association with star sports is an event that no introduction. The programme has gained immense popularity over the last few seasons. The Bengal Warriors team, especially, has managed to procure quite a following. It was thus a proud moment for Indus Valley World School to be one of the eight teams selected for Junior Pro Kabaddi Kolkata zonals.

Appropriate training was imparted to the students by the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi Coach for three days. The students also received sponsored jerseys and shoes.

On the 1st of September, 2017 a ‘Meet and Greet’ programme was organised by the Star Sports team in our premises. All seven selected teams across Kolkata had come together for the event, namely DPS Megacity, South City International School, PB Academy, Future Hope, Khalsa English School, St. Sebastian and Pailan World School. A short event followed where students from different schools participated. The highlight was the presence of Amaresh Mondal and Shashank Wankhde, players of the Bengal Warriors team to promote and encourage junior kabaddi. We, at Indus Valley, were honoured to host this event.

What followed was a kabaddi knock out match at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on the 3rd of September, 2017. Winners and runners up were awarded accordingly.

The exposure through such an event has helped students widen their perspective towards an indigenous sport like kabaddi.
