IVWS – Careers – Design Bootcamp – IIAD – 23rd April 2025

25th April 2025

A unique and exciting workshop – ‘Design Bootcamp’ was conducted by the Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD) at IVWS on 23rd April 2025, for the students of Grade 11 and 12. The workshop focussed on fostering creativity, hands-on learning, critical thinking and helping students link their natural skills to dynamic career opportunities. It was meant to broaden their understanding of design and inspire them to explore a range of creative career paths.

The session started with a short introduction by the IIAD team, where they explained how art can be an emotional outlet and a form of storytelling. The students were asked to draw, not from what they saw, but from what they felt. A series of popular music pieces—from calm, classical tunes to energetic and modern ones – were played, and the students had to let the music guide their emotions and create something, purely based on that feeling.
It was a really interesting experience for the students because, for once, there were no instructions, no right or wrong answers. Just paper, colours, and whatever their minds wanted to express. Some of them drew abstract patterns, some created scenes, and others just scribbled lines and shades that somehow captured the emotion of the music.
After the drawing part, a few of the students were asked to share what they had made and to talk about what they were feeling during each piece. It was amazing to see how the same music led to such different interpretations. This aspect of self-exploration through art and design is what made the workshop an incredible experience for the students.
