On 14th July ‘Iskule Bioscope’ had its inaugural session at Indus Valley World School in collaboration with Bichitra Pathshala and Sauce Brand Communications. The programme began with the traditional lighting of the lamp followed by the opening address by the Director of IVWS, Ms. Amita Prasad. Through Iskule Bioscope screenings, an attempt is being made to regenerate interest in the Bengali language and culture. All discussions and activities are carried out in Bengali. So students who have Bengali as a second language benefit greatly from the activities. A documentary ‘ Ladakh Chale Rickshawala’ which is the winner of the National Award for the ‘Best Sports & Adventure Film’ in 2017 was screened for the students of Grades 8 and 9. The students got the rare opportunity of listening to the director and editor of the document-feature, Ms. Indrani Chakrabarty and Mr. Sabuj Konar respectively who were engaged in conversation with Ms. Subha Das Mollick, the lifeline and chief facilitator for Bichitra Pathshala. After the screening the students interacted with the team and then submitted their responses by answering questions and making illustrations based on their observations.
