International Dance Day is a global celebration of dance, created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute, the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO. The event takes place every year on 29 April, which is the anniversary of the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727–1810), the creator of modern ballet. We at IVWS celebrate World Dance Day 2021 through a unique programme which presents dancers from across the world coming together to express the joy that dance brings; to demonstrate the fact that dance cuts across the boundaries of time and space to connect civilizations. This programme has been curated especially for the IVWS family by the renowned dancer and choreographer Sohini RoyChowdhury Dasgupta and her team from Sohinimoksha World Dance and Communications.
