To promote the development of sports and especially chess in the country, Tata steel had organised a great international chess tournament for the first time in Kolkata at ICCR(Indian Council of Cultural Relations). The tournament started on 9th November 2018 and continued for six days. The presence of the eminent chess players including the world champion, Viswanathan Anand had made this tournament a very remarkable one. Chess fans across the world travelled here only to get a glimpse of the legends playing in this tournament.

Students of Indus Valley World School were taken there from school to watch live games. This initiative was taken by the school to make the students feel the ambience of such a big chess event and also to encourage them to learn chess.
