GRADE V SHANTINIKETAN TRIP 2024-2025
19th January 2025
The Grade 5 students of Indus Valley World School embarked on a 3-day, 2-night educational trip to Shantiniketan from 17th to 19th January 2025. The journey began on the morning of the 17th, with the students departing from school by bus. Upon arrival in Shantiniketan, they visited the Uttarayan Complex and the Viswa Bharati University, which allowed them to explore the rich cultural and academic heritage of the region set up by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The day also included a leisurely sightseeing tour around the town, giving the children an opportunity to appreciate the tranquil surroundings and historical landmarks.
On the 18th of January, the students had a thrilling adventure in the deer park where they experienced deer feeding at close quarters. Next they visited the Srijani Shilpa Gram, a village-craft based centre, where they observed the intricate art and handicrafts of the region. They also visited the Sonajuri Mela, showcasing local crafts and traditions of the indigenous community of the region.. The evening was marked by an exciting tribal dance performance, followed by a campfire, where the children relaxed and enjoyed the warmth and camaraderie of the group.
On the final day, 19th January, after a hearty breakfast, the students departed for Kolkata, concluding their memorable trip.
The excursion was a perfect blend of experiential learning and fun, providing the children with hands-on exposure to literature, art, culture, and history. It was an enriching experience that fostered both education and enjoyment, making it a memorable trip for all students.
