The Indus Valley World School has an ongoing community outreach programme in which it collaborates with Ek Tara, an NGO serving the children and young adults in the area of Topsia. The children visit the school every Friday to play basketball and attend Math Lab classes. It was our dream to take this collaboration to the next level which was made possible due to the tremendous drive of our Director Mrs. Amita Prasad. On 15 November 2019, in the presence of Arindam Sil, the renowned filmmaker who came as our Chief Guest and Gauri Basu the Director of Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata who came as our Guest of Honour we celebrated this collaboration. Our ongoing collaboration with Ektara saw us sharing our school auditorium with 200 children from the NGO as they presented a magical show of Jungle Book under the guidance of Suman Sarawgi and her production team. This was a tremendous experience for children who often cannot attend school regularly as they have to look after younger siblings or perform household chores. The participation and joy of these children in such a show made the afternoon truly special. This was followed by the IVWS School Band ending the show with a stupendous performance where they traversed different genres from classical to retro to hard rock with ease.
