Children’s Day in IVWS is always celebrated with pomp and gaiety and it was no different this year. From songs and dance performances by the teachers who took time out of their hectic schedules to make the day special for the students, the short program arranged for grades 9 to 12 was engaging and fun-filled. It was a day when teachers stepped out of their strict avatars in the classroom and celebrated the child within them. The medley of folk songs had the students lending their voices as well as they swayed to the rhythmic beats while the surprise rendition by Anu Ma’am, the senior coordinator had the basketball court erupt in loud cheers. A semi-classical dance performance by the senior faculty was accompanied by a deafening applause as the children sang along and cried themselves hoarse. The highlight of the day was a football match played between the students and teachers and the excitement was palpable as the teachers emerged as the winners in a tiebreaker. Food stalls were put up for a gastronomic experience and as they savoured the delectable fare, received mementos and took pictures with their teachers, they stood testament to the deep bond between mentor and mentee that makes life in IVWS so special.
